Alexandre Kilani and Aymeric Lebatteux have just won European championships junior pair which took place to Vejle in Denmark

savoye For several years, the French University Sport Federation shows its willingness to host major international events on its territory. 2012 will be as such an exceptional, since during the summer, no less than three Student World Championships will be held in France: the bridge in Reims (July 10-15), the rugby 7 in Brive-la-Gaillarde (July 11-13) and the sail racing in Nice (September 3-8).
This promising trilogy will allow athlete students around the world to discover the charms of our cities and our province by participating in high-level sportive competitions, in a unique spirit of university sport’s own.
Reims, capital of Champagne region and of “Champagne”, will give the kick-off of this beautiful series. Twenty nations will be expected for the 6th World University Championship of bridge, at the Halle Universitaire Croix Rouge, the heart of Reims Campus.
At a time when home stretch is initiated, I praise those who have worked to ensure that this event was launched and especially the French Bridge Federation, without whom none of this would have been possible. Thank you to all public and private partners whose investment with us once again demonstrates the ability of such unifying events.

You are all here in Rheims today to attend or participate in the 6th World University of Bridge Championship.
This event is part of FISU’s wonderful program featuring 28 World University Championships in 2012; already in 2010, 27 championships had been held, gathering 4431 student athletes.It is important to mention that over 300 University World Championships have been organized under the aegis of FISU since 1962 in 51 countries over the 5 continents. They have featured 31 disciplines and gathered nearly 55 000 student athletes in total.
The 2012 World University Championships represent the 25th edition of these competitions, which take place every two years in even-numbered years. They alternate with Summer and Winter Universiades, which are organized in odd-numbered years.

France wins two World Championships

It was the first time getting through the elimination stage was not easy. France ended at the 8th rank and was the last team qualified.
It is the first time France won an international championship in senior lady category.
2 million French bridge players were celebrating. Bridge is a team spirit discipline which successively won major international titles in two very important categories...


AHofficielThe city of Reims is very proud to host from 9th to 15th of July, the 6th World University championship of Bridge. Organised by the Regional committee of University Sport, this international event will attract a large audience.
The competition which takes place at the Halle Universitaire Croix Rouge, will receive many teams from around the world.
Reims is a sporting city and we are committed to promote all sports, in the diversity of their practices and their audience. All sports have their place in Reims

Everything has been carried out by the French University Sports Federation (FUSF) of Reims, with the support of the French Federation of Bridge, for this edition remains an extraordinary memory for each of you. Press conference

The press conference of the 6th World University Bridge was held April 18 in the local RMS.
This conference showcased the championship to all journalists and partners present.
We thank everyone who made ​​the trip to attend the conference.
