For several years, the French University Sport Federation shows its willingness to host major international events on its territory. 2012 will be as such an exceptional, since during the summer, no less than three Student World Championships will be held in France: the bridge in Reims (July 10-15), the rugby 7 in Brive-la-Gaillarde (July 11-13) and the sail racing in Nice (September 3-8).
This promising trilogy will allow athlete students around the world to discover the charms of our cities and our province by participating in high-level sportive competitions, in a unique spirit of university sport’s own.
Reims, capital of Champagne region and of “Champagne”, will give the kick-off of this beautiful series. Twenty nations will be expected for the 6th World University Championship of bridge, at the Halle Universitaire Croix Rouge, the heart of Reims Campus.
At a time when home stretch is initiated, I praise those who have worked to ensure that this event was launched and especially the French Bridge Federation, without whom none of this would have been possible. Thank you to all public and private partners whose investment with us once again demonstrates the ability of such unifying events.
Delegations from around the world, welcome to France! Enjoy yourself, enjoy these moments ... and the best wins!
